October on the Fraser river means intense White Sturgeon fishing!
Every day on the Fraser River in October equals quality fishing, much like any other month.
We always look forward to October Sturgeon fishing. This is when our charters produce incredible results for big fish. So far this month the Sturgeon fishing has been action packed. Every charter is getting into lots of big fish and many are over 7 and 8 feet. Fraser Sturgeon are extremely energetic at this time of year and battles are typically full of long screaming runs and jumps. Anglers are experiencing sore arms and battles that they could not even imagine. These fish are NOT slugs, they are one of the best fighting big game sport fish on the planet.

Top Sturgeon fishing locations
Mission BC is the “Sturgeon Fishing Capital of the World”
We focus our efforts in the prime area of Mission to Maple Ridge(15 min from Mission). This is 30-40 minutes downstream of Chilliwack. This is by far the top producing area for big fish and lots of fish. It is the prime feeding zone. For example, 12 big Sturgeon were encountered on one of our charter boats 3 days ago. This is normal for October in the Fraser river valley. For best fishing opportunities it is always recommended to have a freshwater license with White Sturgeon conservation tag PLUS separately a Tidal waters license. Mission is based right on the boundary that separates Tidal from Freshwater. Please have both when you are going on one of our Sturgeon charters in the Fall months.

Top baits for October
Without giving away any secrets; Sturgeon are actively feeding on Salmon during the Fall. We always have a fine selection of prime baits that Sturgeon cannot resist.
When is peak Sturgeon season over?
Generally speaking one can expect incredible results well into November. Many of our repeat anglers from Europe are keen on booking their Fraser River Fishing Holiday at this time due to the wicked action and fewer anglers. These veterans go home with destroyed arms and big grins!
Weather is not too much of a factor here with exception of snow which is always possible by late November. Sturgeon are not affected by rain, they are already wet. We’re not sure why people keep asking if rain upsets fish. We recommend booking your Sturgeon trip right up to November 20 for good results.
