2026 holds good promise for salmon returns
Salmon Fishing in the Vancouver BC area was very good in 2025 and this brings hope of yet another season of great results and excellent numbers of Salmon returning to local rivers such as the Fraser, Squamish, Harrison and more. Ocean salmon fishing precedes the fishes return to the areas rivers, and we can hook you up with our Salt water guide to effectively troll the waters around Vancouver BC.

Sockeye salmon
Coho salmon numbers in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have been excellent for a few years now, so predicting another good return is a safe bet. They will become available in the salt water starting in June and continuing through until September. Coho salmon will enter the local rivers starting in mid September and right through until mid November. They can be caught in the ocean by trolling with down riggers, and in the local rivers by fly fishing or casting lures, either from the boat or from shore.

Chum Salmon
Chum salmon numbers in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are usually unpredictable but numbers are pretty good overall. Chum salmon become available in the local rivers such as the Fraser, Squamish, Stave, Harrison and a few others starting in October and continuing through until mid to late November. They can be caught by fly fishing or casting lures, drifting a float with jig, either from our jet boats or from shore. Chums are eager biters!

Chinook Salmon
Chinook salmon numbers in the Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have been incredible over the last few years, so we expect another great season in 2026. Chinook salmon become available in the local rivers such as the Fraser and Harrison. Fraser River Chinook Salmon are in the system in high numbers from early August until early October. They can be caught by casting lures or ‘bar fishing’ either from our jet boats or from shore. Chinooks aka King Salmon average 10 – 30 lbs and are known for fighting!!

Sockeye Salmon
Sockeye salmon will likely return in very strong numbers in the Fraser River system for the summer of 2026. August to mid September is the prime timing for this high cycle of Sockeye Salmon. They can be caught by trolling in the salt water or in the Fraser River by casting ‘bottom bouncing’ gear from our jet boats or from shore. Sockeye Salmon average 4 to 10 lbs and are known for exceptional table fare !
