It’s been the best fishing we’ve seen in years
November rolled in on the coat tails of October’s awesomeness. If November wanted recognition it would need to have some semblance of October’s flurry of activity on the Sturgeon Fishing and Salmon Fishing front. November just might have been better! And it’s not over yet.
November hilites
Chum Salmon Fishing
Yes the inappropriately shunned Chum Salmon kept us all in awe as hordes of them returned each and every day like a biblical curse of sorts. But there’s no curse here. It was a blessing. Our angling guests were kept very busy reeling in Chum after Chum. The local tributaries were so stuffed with Chums that our depth sounder couldn’t find the bottom of the river. This was the case on the Stave River which is a 15 minute jet boat ride from the Mission waterfront. The Harrison River which is legendary for intense salmon fishing action was no different. Limits were easy to get. 50 hookups per rod/day? YES. Either the Stave or Harrison gave anglers tired and sore arms but accompanied by ear to ear grins.
- Endless Chums for the German group
- Mouth of the Harrison is amazing place
- Big Chum Buck on the Stave River
Sturgeon Fishing
White Sturgeon fishing was and still is practically ‘On Fire’. This is typical. We had such intense action that a few of our clients tapped out early due to exhaustion and arms so sore that they could barely hold the cold beer that they rightfully earned. Plenty of Chum Salmon kept the Sturgeon in high gear. It was and is feeding time for Sturgeon. With over 7 million Chums returning to spawn it was a frenzy of gluttony for all Fraser River Sturgeon. So we were there to pick a fight and fights we did have. And so it was a fight fest for all our Sturgeon clients. Many, many fish in the 6 to 8 foot plus range were brought in. When the bite was on it was just a matter of bringing enough fishing buddies so your arms can get a break!
“Many of our 8 hour Sturgeon trips resulted in guys spending 90% of their trip tied into fish. And brutally tough fish”
- From Tokyo to land a 2 meter Sturgeon
- Dishing it out on a Big Sturgeon!
- A few inches shy of 9 feet!

What’s in store for the remainder of November
The Sturgeon fishing should be excellent until months end. Chum Salmon are almost done in the Stave River but still doing well on the Harrison River. The Harrison is typically a good bet right to the end of the month. All in all, the first half of November is a perfect time to take in a Fraser River Fishing Package complete with lodging just 2 minutes from our jet boats in Mission, BC.
