This Massive Fraser River White Sturgeon put on a show!
It was a Sturgeon to be reckoned with. A True River Monster by anyone’s definition. Not just in size but the battle was epic and certainly gruelling for this lucky angler from New Jersey!
The Father – Son duo booked a Fraser River Sturgeon charter with Silversides in May, 2016. The trip departed from Mission, British Columbia, just 55 minutes east of Vancouver. Mission is known as ‘The Sturgeon Capital of Earth’. Their guide Brian Mack took them up stream 15 minutes towards Chilliwack in the 21 foot Customweld jet boat.
In total there was 5 tail walking jumps out of the Fraser river spread over an hour and a half. The giant 9 foot 1 inch(400 lbs) White Sturgeon was landed 5 km down river from where it was hooked on May 21, 2016. Watch the video below and see 1 of the incredible jumps from early in the battle.
