We think 350 pounds and 102″ translates into a Beast of a Sturgeon
This Sturgeon was clearly the fish of a lifetime for all 15 guys who were part of a 3 boat Sturgeon fishing charter with us on Saturday May 7th. Even though there are bigger White Sturgeon in the Fraser river, this is certainly a fish that anyone can be proud to boast of for their lifetime! It was caught and released on the Fraser River between Mission and Chilliwack, British Columbia. It was hooked at 1:45 PM and was landed at 3:05 PM. Photos were taken and the fish was released safely. The stag group were amazed at how tough and insane the battle was. All 5 guys on Brian Mack’s boat took turns on the massive fish. It’s initial run was fast and unstoppable. almost 300 yards of line ripped from the Shimano Talica reel. Halfway through the run the fish jumped and showed everyone what was in store. It was a game of give and take for over an hour. We’re sure there will be future plans to go for even a bigger one in the future for this group.
All Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser river is 100% catch & release. The survival rates are believed to be 100% provided fish are handled with proper care. 50% of the gills must remain soaked for all big fish that go to shore. Fish over 4.5 feet must remain in the water.
