November 19, 2019 Sturgeon Fishing report for the Mission BC area
We LOVE Sturgeon fishing in November! The reliability of hooking big fish and lots of fish is certainly a big factor but there’s more. The seasons are changing and so is the life cycle of the river, the Fraser that is. One of the season’s treasures is the sight of Bald eagles everywhere feeding on dead salmon carcasses along the banks. Thousands come here each Fall to take advantage of the abundance of ‘free’ meat. It’s a feast for the creatures above the water line.
But below the water line there’s much going on also! Big White Sturgeon and the smaller ones too are on a feeding frenzy as I’m sure they know that winter is ever so near. And with that it’s eat or perish. And with the right bait in the right spot it’s literally like taking candy from a baby.
During the Fall months the Fraser River is in excellent condition in the Mission, BC area, and this year is no exception.
Catches during the first 2 weeks of November were fantastic. One of our highlight Sturgeon was a 8.5 foot fatty caught & released by Tara and Tyler from Ontario, Canada.

As we head into the winter months of December to February we will see a slow down in Sturgeon fishing. There will still be stellar days when our mild West coast weather patterns take hold but that’s not a predictable pattern.
But wait until we hit March! Then the ball get’s rolling once again! We can hardly wait for the hard hitting Spring Sturgeon action!

Hot Sturgeon Fishing from late March to early May!
This is likely the fastest action of the year. Bookings are heavy and for good reason. The Spring Sturgeon discount we offer combined with the exceptional fishing. Sturgeon are extremely hungry and active after waiting around all winter. In fact thousands of them will come in from the ocean to take advantage of the spring smelt run in the Fraser which provides extreme nourishment for Sturgeon.
Two of our angling guests from England fished for 6 days in April 2019 and landed over 100 fish during their fishing holiday. On the last day they could barely hold a rod! This is actually quite normal for our guests in the spring and not some miracle fishing event!
