It’s Steelhead time on the Vedder – Chilliwack River!

It’s Steelhead time on the Vedder – Chilliwack River!

Vedder Steelhead are here! The Vedder River has both wild and hatchery clipped Steelhead. All wild fish must be released and never removed from the water. Steelhead fishing picks up after some much needed rain after a rather lengthy Arctic domination of our weather. The Vedder river shot up to a level that drives fish into the system instead of the pee trickle we had for several weeks. When the river starts to drop this is always a key time to hit the river. Fresh Steelhead only 2 days from the ocean are back home to their birth place and eager to smack some morsels of bait drifted in front […]

Last day of Salmon Fishing is a winner!

Last day of Salmon Fishing is a winner!

One last go at the Chum Salmon The Squamish River has been good to me since the first visit there in 1988 so I keep going back. The river is gorgeous and the surrounding landscapes are pure eye candy. And there’s fish. In this case it’s the last day for retention of Chum Salmon on the Squamish River. The great thing about catching Chum Salmon here is that most fish you hook into on the lower river will be ‘tidal’ fish. Meaning they have come into the river on the last high tide. The lower river is notorious for this and given that the salt water is only a few […]

November Fishing recap – Fraser River Valley

November Fishing recap – Fraser River Valley

It’s been the best fishing we’ve seen in years November rolled in on the coat tails of October’s awesomeness. If November wanted recognition it would need to have some semblance of October’s flury of activity on the Sturgeon and Salmon front. November just might have been better! And it’s not over yet. Want to Subscribe to our blog? Scroll to the bottom. November hilites Chum Salmon. Yes the inapropriately shunned Chum Salmon kept us all in awe as hordes of them returned each and every day like a biblical curse of sorts. But there’s no curse here. It was a blessing. Our angling guests were kept very busy reeling in […]

Chum Salmon invade the Fraser River Valley!

Chum Salmon invade the Fraser River Valley!

This is by far the best Chum Salmon fishing we have seen in years! Chums are usually big in numbers but this year is insane. They just keep coming in every day. The Fraser River Valley tributaries are teaming with Chum salmon. Every run is boiling with fish. It’s a ton of fun for everyone. What does this mean for our charter guests? Lots and lots of hookups for everyone. We have seen many of our clients hooking up with up to 50 Chum salmon each per day. Chums are solid scrappers and if you tie into that many in a day your arms are going to feel it. But […]

October 7 Fraser Sturgeon Fishing Report

October 7 Fraser Sturgeon Fishing Report

October on the Fraser river means intense White Sturgeon fishing! We always look forward to October Sturgeon fishing. This is when our charters produce incredible results for big fish. So far this month the Sturgeon fishing has been action packed. Every charter is getting into lots of big fish and many are over 7 and 8 feet. Fraser Sturgeon are extremely energetic at this time of year and battles are typically full of long screaming runs and jumps. Anglers are experiencing sore arms and battles that they could not even imagine. These fish are NOT slugs, they are one of the best big game sport fish on the planet. Top […]

Big Chinook Salmon caught on Fraser River

Big Chinook Salmon caught on Fraser River

This huge King Salmon is our biggest of the season! Andrea from Italy is proud to display his massive 42 pound Fraser River Chinook salmon he landed on the morning of September 28, 2016. Andrea and his 2 fishing buddies had travelled from Italy to experience some Fraser river Salmon and White Sturgeon fishing on a 5 day package. They achieved their fishing goals and perhaps a bit more. On the morning of September 28 we were bar fishing with spin-glows on one of the many gravel bars that line the Fraser river in the Chilliwack area. Rods were cast out with 18oz of lead to hold the spin-glos in […]

Fraser River Fall Chinook Salmon Fishing heats up!

Fraser River Fall Chinook Salmon Fishing heats up!

Fraser Chinooks are here! The Fraser river opened on Monday September 19th for Chinook and Chum salmon fishing. We were on the Fraser yesterday for some bar fishing in hopes to nail a Chinook or 2. The Fraser river visibility was about 2 feet which is nice enough to have success. Upon arriving we pounded the bar rod holders into the gravel at the edge of the river. Then with 20 oz of lead attached to the spin-glo rig they were cast out about 15 yards straight out into the current. Depth was about 8 feet. I told the guys we would have a hookup within 10 minutes. 8 minutes […]

Salmon Fishing on the Fraser River Opens Sept 19th, 2016

Salmon Fishing on the Fraser River Opens Sept 19th, 2016

Fraser River Salmon Fishing OPENS September 19th, 2016 An unusually late opening that will not be repeated in 2017. Finally the Fraser river will be open to Salmon fishing on September 19th, 2016. Our highly dysfunctional Department of Fisheries and Oceans(DFO) has opened the Fraser to sportfishing for Chinook salmon and Chum salmon. A lack of salmon wasn’t really the issue here, but rather political bunglings and lack of leadership. The big run of Fall Chinooks can now be targetted on our Fraser river fishing charters! We will be bar fishing, plug fishing and deep spinner fishing for these Fraser Chinooks that can go over 50 lbs and average 20-25 […]

Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing Report August 13, 2016

Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing Report August 13, 2016

August 13 Sturgeon Fishing Report The White Sturgeon fishing has been equal with the weather recently, as in very nice. Fishing over the past week has consistently resulted in plenty of large White Sturgeon being caught and released after a quick photo session in the shallows. Sturgeon are then promptly released. Some fish swim away slowly and others are so frisky that getting a still photo is difficult to achieve and once in a while impossible. Thankfully we do have a few pics you can view in this post. Very big Sturgeon are in the Fraser river right now and they are hungry. If you’re looking to battle foul tempered […]
