Sturgeon fishing Incredibleness!

Sturgeon fishing Incredibleness!

Our Fraser River Sturgeon Report for April 22, 2016 We want to make this clear. Sturgeon fishing doesn’t get any better than what we’ve experienced over the last 2 weeks. We were on the Fraser on April 19-20th with 2 guys, 1 from Australia and 1 from the USA midwest. They were in for a real treat as there were over 20 good size fish landed. Our biggest was a whopping 8 feet 4 inch beast. Lots of White Sturgeon were in the 4.5 – 6 foot range and full of ‘piss & vinegar’ aka steroids. Many fish were doing incredibly long runs over 200 meters and a couple of […]

Some Beauty Bull Trout on the Fly

Some Beauty Bull Trout on the Fly

Finding Bull Trout is the adventure It’s April 17 and one of our fly fishing guides Jason and myself have the afternoon to go chuck some flies for Bull trout on the Squamish river just north of Vancouver. I decide to take him into a secret run I know. It requires a 20 minute hike through some very cool looking Elk trails and finally pops out onto the river where a sweet piece of river is beckoning a cast. Single hand or Spey? That is the question Jason packs along a 13 foot 7 weight spey rod and  I pack a 7/8 weight single hand equipped with a Hardy Demon […]

April 12 Fly Fishing – When everything lines up!

April 12 Fly Fishing – When everything lines up!

Perfect conditions and a whole lot of tight lines! Steelhead green, overcast with a few showers is what we always hope for when we have clients on the river for Steelhead & Trout fly fihing. This is what you need to wish for. Please don’t wish for sunny skies and low clear water. I had the pleasure of guiding Ed from Washigton state for 2 days(April 11-12) of Steelhead & Bull Troutfly fishing on the Squamish river. Ed has been chucking flies for some time but doesn’t know our area too well so like many other wise people he hired a guide to give him the advantage. Ed stayed at […]

April 2 Sturgeon fishing

April 2 Sturgeon fishing

Sturgeon Fishing remains solid As we head out from the Mission marina there’s  a lot of anticipation in the air on this sunny crisp morning. The memories of March 31 slay fest is firmly in our minds. Will it be a repeat? As the old addage goes, time will tell. We head up river to where there’s been plenty of activity lately. A quick sounding of the river bottom reveals a few Sturgeon so we drop anchor and settle in to our first spot. Lines are cast out and our baits lay deliciously on the river bottom. And so we wait… It doesn’t take too long and the first fish […]
